July 4th, marked the opening of the Copake Grange and Roeliff Jansen Historical Society's collaborative pop-up exhibit “100 Years of Women’s Right to Vote,” celebrating the 1920 ratification of the 19th amendment to the US Constitution.

The exhibit features original voting booths, ballot boxes, posters, children’s books and other memorabilia from the suffrage movement, which had first begun in Seneca Falls, NY in 1848. The exhibit also explores the important role that New York State, and grassroots efforts by women’s organizations, including the egalitarian Order of the Grange, played in the decades long struggle for woman suffrage in America.

Viewing continues on Saturday, July 11th, 10am-12 noon and Saturday, July 18th, 1-3 pm inside the Grange Hall. Masks are required and social distancing will be maintained for visitors.
